Website Content is not Furniture, It’s the Sink

If you look at building a website like building a house, often it's easy to look at content as furniture, where you build everything else first, then simply insert any content.
But content isn't furniture. Content is more like a sink or bath tub which is first defined, then the counters and bathroom are designed around. On a website, the content is best to be nailed down first, then the website built around that content. This includes both the sitemap (or structure) of the website, as well as the actual text and images.
There are exceptions like a standard blog, but overall, content is the kitchen sink, not the furniture.
